After a few weeks of great publicity for the Ottawa Food Bank, the “Why I love Ottawa/Gatineau” media/celebrity and public photo contest finally came to a close last night. Ottawa Studio Works hosted a day long silent auction of photos taken by Ottawa celebrities including, Ian Black, Sandy Sharky, Jim Watson, Alan Neal and Peter Simpson (among many others). Two great Ottawa Bloggers, Andrea Tompkins and Danielle Donders, also participated in the event and together, more than $1,200 was raised for the Ottawa Food Bank. Not bad, if I say so myself. 230 – Bridgehead Roastery and Coffee House as seen on Preston Street

Well it’s official, the Bridgehead Roastery and Coffee Houses has to be one of my favorite coffee shops in town. I had been here before but never during roasting hours. Not only did the coffee taste great but the whole place smelt amazing. I also learnt that they do tours on the weekend which also includes a tasting. Something to look forward too! So apparently I have a fascination with capturing great artists and their pianos at the NAC. First I shot a photo of Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson, and today I bring you one of Glenn Gould, one of the best-known and most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century. Actually what I am bringing you is a photo of Gould’s favorite piano, the Steinway CD 318, which is located in a permanent display at the mezzanine of the National Arts Centre. 228 – “Downtown Ottawa à la miniature” – A Scale Model Sculpture as seen on Rideau Street

Another Ottawa gem and beautiful map of the downtown core. This amazing little model of the city can be found at the intersection of Rideau Street and Elgin in front of the old train station.
