Took a short walk through the Byward Market tonight and discovered this interesting sight. Actually, I didn’t discover it, my girlfriend did, but thankfully she pointed it out to me and patiently waited while I tried to figure out the best angle to take a shot. Anyways, I guess it was kind of fitting for me to find some running shoes last night because 30 minutes after taking this photo I got a call from someone answering my Kijiji wanted add for a Run Ottawa Half Marathon bib. Another shot for you today of Sunday night’s great sunset (first here), this time not of the sun itself but the orange glow reflected on the Claridge condos in the Byward Market. Before this morning and the 10 cm of snow, I would have said that it was another sure sign that spring was coming. Part of me still hopes that is true! Enjoy.       [google_map address=’254 – Amazing Sunset Glow as seen on the Claridge Plaza’ coordinates=’45.428242,-75.687293′ zoom=’15’ height=’300px’]

Been complaining about the cold lately? I know I have! Realized how good I had it when I saw this guy walking down Rideau Street last night. Life doesn’t stop for the homeless or those who try to make a buck or two by means most people would never consider. Even at -30°C, this guy was still out collecting and returning bottles to the BeerStore, talk about commitment. Just something to think about today on this extremely cold winter day.       Finally Made it to the Beer Store   [google_map address=’199′ coordinates=’45.427718,-75.688612′ zoom=’15’ height=’300px’]

I present to you: “The Crooked Red House.” This little red and white house snuggled between two buildings has to be, at least from the outside, one of the smallest houses I have seen in Ottawa. I hope for whoever lives in it that it expands into one of the two buildings next to it because that would make for one little cramped space. Also, question for you photographers out there? Given the extremely crooked nature of each element in this frame, what would you have used to level this shot? For some reason, I just can’t figure it out. […]
