Red Bull Flugtag, or as defined by Wikipedia: “an event organized by Red Bull in which competitors attempt to fly home-made, size- and weight-limited, human-powered flying machines (max 10m/30 ft, 150 kg/330 lbs). The flying machines are usually launched off a pier about 30 feet (9.1 m) high into the sea (or suitably sized reservoir of water). Most competitors enter for the entertainment value, and the flying machines rarely fly at all.” This description, particularly the part about “flying machines rarely flying at all”, is exactly the way this event turned out. 361 – Black and White Curves of the Canadian Museum of Civilization as seen in Gatineau

The exterior of the Canadian Museum of Civilization has always been on my list of must shoot buildings for this 365. How could it not be? It has to be one of the most beautiful and unique buildings in-and-around Ottawa. With all its curves and shapes, I’ve never really seen anything quite like it! Oh, and did I say it’s also a pretty darn cool museum too?

After much debate (thank you twitter folk for all the suggestions), I settled on the MacDonald Cartier bridge area to get a sunset shot and I was not disappointed. I couldn’t have asked for more! 180 – The Canadian Museum of Civilization as seen in Hull

Had my first visit to the Civilization Museum last night. We got there really late only 35 minutes before close so we only had time to check out one exhibit: “A Queen and Her Country.” While we had originally gone for the Voodoo exhibit, we were informed that this one was on its last few days so we said why not check it out. If you’re a fan of the Queen and Royalty (and even if you’re not), this is definitely something worth checking out. You have till Sunday to get there before it’s gone.
