Red Bull Flugtag, or as defined by Wikipedia: “an event organized by Red Bull in which competitors attempt to fly home-made, size- and weight-limited, human-powered flying machines (max 10m/30 ft, 150 kg/330 lbs). The flying machines are usually launched off a pier about 30 feet (9.1 m) high into the sea (or suitably sized reservoir of water). Most competitors enter for the entertainment value, and the flying machines rarely fly at all.” This description, particularly the part about “flying machines rarely flying at all”, is exactly the way this event turned out. The exterior of the Canadian Museum of Civilization has always been on my list of must shoot buildings for this 365. How could it not be? It has to be one of the most beautiful and unique buildings in-and-around Ottawa. With all its curves and shapes, I’ve never really seen anything quite like it! Oh, and did I say it’s also a pretty darn cool museum too?

Tried making my way to Parliament Hill for the big Canada Day celebration, but arrived too late to get a spot on the hill! Instead, I found myself right in front of the main gate on Wellington street. These are my early afternoon highlights taken from exactly that location! Not surprisingly, very few of them involve the show, as we couldn’t see a thing! Almost 20 of these guys jumped out of a cargo plane and performed awesome tricks!   My top highlight for sure!
